Events Impacting Global Shipping Timelines

We want to keep you up to date with situations and events that may impact the shipment of your order.

We are doing everything we can to ensure that your order arrives as originally communicated , however recent events beyond our control have impacted projected delivery times. These events are impacting many furniture retailers across Australia, and not just Freedom.

Global and domestic supply chain issues

Three separate situations are currently impacting shipping timelines Australia-wide.
Firstly, major port operator DP World suffered a cyberattack on November 10. This caused them to shut down all operations in their ports in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Fremantle for several days, delaying around 40% of Australia’s maritime freight. You can read more about it here. 

Secondly, the Maritime Union of Australia gave notice that it would be conducting protected industry action in ports around Australia in November and December. This action includes complete work stoppages and delaying the unloading of new shipments. You can read more about it here.

Lastly, the number of container shipping vessels travelling to Australia was unexpectedly reduced in the peak shipping period of the year (October-December). This reduction has created a bottleneck in shipping deliveries, leading to unavoidable delays for many retailers across Australia, including Freedom.

The Impact

Unfortunately, some Freedom orders have been delayed by these events. We will be contacting affected customers as soon as we have a full understanding of which orders have been delayed and how long they may be delayed for.
